Feminization of Rock
In the link below you will be able to see the top 20 Most Androgynous Rock Bands of all time. I think it is interesting that rock bands adopt this type of style as to me I thought that rockers are supposed to be manly tough guys with loads of tattoos but apparently I am wrong. How come that these men who sing and scream about sex,drugs and rock n' roll look so much lady like? Nearly all of these performers use makeup such as black eyeliner and black nail polish. Is it because they are so free and they don't want to follow any rules or is it because they have a feminine side to them, what do you think?

That is very interesting issue Julie! Most of the rock bands from your link, were living during the revolution in the 1960s, music and fashion industries inspired a trend towards self-exploration emphasizing individual freedom and self-realization, so probably particularly in this situation they did not want to follow the rules and wanted to show to the whole world that they do not care. Although every man has feminine side as every woman has masculine one, but the question is about how society let people show their opposite gender's sides.
ReplyDeleteNowadays i think that situation is even more strange, as more and more guys look incredibly feminine and it becoming to be a norm. And i am just interested why it is going on? Is it a equality of genders, so many people fighting for , or just a fashionable mainstream.
Nevertheless,society's boundaries have changed, so too the masculine-feminine boundaries blurred. As borders blur, markets merge, and cultures blend, androgyny seems to have found its way to global mainstream.
